Altered Landscapes
This is a series of digital collages.
For the most part, all of the imagery
comes from my own negatives and transparencies,
and the resulting collages are spliced
together seamlessly using Adobe Photoshop®.
The concepts for the images usually
arise in one of two ways. Sometimes,
I have a concept in my head that
I want to visually illustrate, and
I must then go out into the real
world and find each component of
the puzzle. Other times, the idea
for the collage comes from placing
two single images side by side on
my ligtht table, and seeing an interesting
relationship between the two that
compells a wedding, if you will.
The series is a short one, mainly
because I have not spent much time
making them since 2000. They are
extraordinarily time-consuming, and
since my brief love-affair with the
computer, I have once again returned
to photographing single images with
my 4x5 camera. That is not to say
that I will not one day return to
the digital collage. I most certainly
will. |
